behind the name Blue Hat
six thinking hats
“Six Thinking Hats” is a system designed by psychologist Edward de Bono (Amazon book link). It defines an approach to problem solving using a sequence of six coloured hats to encourage groups to think about problems from alternative perspectives.
The Blue Hat has the role of manager. It asks questions such as “what is the goal?” “what are we thinking about?” and is responsible for looking at the big picture.
We like the ideas that Edward de Bono exhorts – the need to look from many view points. There is no one simple right way to do things. We combine traditional software development approaches, management techniques including Six Thinking Hats, and the latest Agile DSDM, Scrum and Kanban approaches to deliver the best outcomes.
